Hair removal procedure has become one of the most common offerings by medical aesthetics clinics today. Forma-tk has developed a range of innovative technologies to offer the most effective and safe hair removal treatments. Forma-tk features hair removal treatments using IPL (intense pulsed light), 808nm Diode Laser and Diode Laser 1064nm Nd:Yag technologies.

808nm Diode Laser Hair Removal

The Magma System, featuring Forma-tk’s advance 808nm Diode Laser technology for Effective, Safe and Painless hair removal treatment for all skin types. The 808nm Diode Laser has three key advantages over older methods of epilation:

Painless treatments

Due to the advance coolling system, hair removal treatment can be performed without causing skin irritation. The ALD applicator is equipped with a metal surface plate which is cooled to 4°C.

Fast treatments 

Using the 808nm Diode laser for hair removal, large areas can be treated considerably faster, increasing the efficiency of the hair removal treatment and allowing more patients to be treated during a typical day.

Effective treatments

The Magma is a precise instrument that can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle while minimally affecting the surrounding skin. Lasertrolysis is a method of removing unwanted hair, utilizing laser energy targeted to the hair follicle to cause thermal damage and prevent further hairs from growing. The near-infrared laser light is emitted by the ALD applicator and preferentially absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for only a fraction of a second. The duration of each pulse is just long enough to damage the follicle, while the system's unique contact-cooling system helps protect the skin by conductive cooling during the laser energy delivery.

Treating all skin types

The Magma Diode system delivers a long wavelength (808 nm wavelength). Enabling the light to penetrate deeper into the skin while better avoiding the melanin pigment in the skin's epidermis. The long wavelength penetrates into the hair follicle causing only minimal epidermal injury.  This fact allows Forma-tk's Diode laser to be used on all skin types.

IPL hair removal

Using Forma-tk’s unique IPL technology (featuring both USP and UPC technologies) an effective and safe hair removal procedure is achieved as Broad-Light spectrum is applied to the surface of the skin, targeting melanin.

This light travels through the skin until it strikes the hair shafts or the bulb (root) where the highest concentration of melanin is located. As the light is absorbed, the bulb and most of the hair shaft are heated, destroying the hair-producing papilla. Additionally heat conversion occurs directly in the darker capillaries that bring blood to the follicle.

At any one time, not all hair follicles are ‘active’, meaning in Anagen phase and only active hair follicles can be affected by the treatment. ‘Inactive’ hair follicles (e.g. Telogen and catagen) can be treated as they become ‘active’ over time. A series of treatments is required to remove most visible hair.

1064nm Nd:YAG Hair removal

Using the Nd:YAG for hair removal is ideal for patients with darker skin and for especially deep hairs. 
The field of laser technology has seen major advancements in the last decade, particularly in the area of laser-assisted hair removal.

With the advantage of longer wavelength, longer pulse durations and efficient cooling devices, the currently available laser machines can now be used safely for all skin phototypes. The two wavelengths which can safely be used for laser hair reduction on darker skin types are the diode (808 nm) and Nd: YAG (1064 nm). In terms of efficacy, the shorter wavelength (diode) laser is generally regarded as more effective because of ‘melanin’s higher absorption value which decreases with increasing wavelength. However, the longer wavelength Nd: YAG laser is considered ideal for treating patients with darker skin, due to reduced scatter and deeper penetration of the laser light. Also, shorter pulse durations can be more safely used with the Nd: YAG laser than with the diode.

This is an additional advantage when dealing with finer hair with shorter thermal relaxation time (TRT). The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has approved both the long pulsed diode and Nd: YAG laser systems for laser-assisted hair removal in darker skin phototypes. Unwanted body hair can represent a severe cosmetic disturbance. In recent years, not only people with hirsuitism and hypertrichosis, but even those with normal distribution of unwanted hair seek long-term laser hair reduction.
